I must start this rant by stating that I have never, not even one time, gone Black Friday shopping.  I have no plans on starting. I hate crowds of obnoxious people, I would rather sleep in, and I have worked retail and know what Black Friday is like from their point of view.  I do have friends that just love the tradition of Black Friday.  I'm not insulting them, I just don't like it myself.  As I have told many people:  The store would have to be offering a free car with every purchase to make it worth my while.

That being said, I'm sure everyone has heard about the tragedy at a Wal-Mart in New York.  If you haven't, an employee was TRAMPLED by black Friday shoppers who mobbed the front door:

"The New York Times reports that at about 4:55 am on Friday, a crowd of more than 2,000 who had come out for holiday deals forced their way into the Valley Stream, NY store. The six or so workers manning the front could not hold the unruly crowd back. Witnesses said the doors shattered and 'the shrieking mob surged through in a blind rush for holiday bargains. and Jdimytai Damour was 'thrown back onto the black linoleum tiles and trampled in the stampede that streamed over and around him.'"

My first though when I read this story is that every one of those people who went as far as breaking the doors and killing a human being should be held accountable.  Yes, Wal-Mart should as well, but seriously....How the hell do you not realize you walking on someone??!!!!!  And guess what?  The police are trying! They're closely looking at the security tapes to identify the faces of the crowd.  I'm all for it.  No sale is worth becoming a savage.  I hope that every time those people watch their oh-so-important hdtv/blue-ray/whathave you that they are forced to remember that there is one family who has lost someone because of a price discount.

Really shows how people have lost the true meaning of Christmas.  "Peace, Love, Goodwill to men"

I really hope that I get to have next Friday off.  Not only would it be nice to recoup after the midnight showing of "Twilight" (or maybe see it again :) ), but I just need a long weekend. I have stuff at the house to get done and it would be nice to have time relax rather than spending the whole time running errands and cleaning.

I just finished watching the Twilight Spoilers on MTV, which was pretty cool.  They showed the clip of "the van" scene.  I'm super excited.  So far my group for the midnight showing is up to 5 people definitely going.  Rock on.  Anyone is invited! Tickets are on sale on fandango.com

Christmas is coming so fast, it's crazy.  I've decided to teach myself to make jewelry and I figure I can knock out a few presents at the same time. So far I have made a bracelet and a necklace.  I feel accomplished :)  Maybe with a little practice I can earn some extra cash.

I'm off to find something to eat

Altoona FINALLY posted midnight showings for Twilight, so I can calm down.  I bought my tickets last night and when I get home from work, where I am now, I have a free download on itunes from fandango.com waiting for me. Woot.  Since I have be unsuccessful at finding the Jasper shirt that I want on zazzle.com or cafepress, I have decided to attempt to make it myself.  We'll see how this goes.

Also, all you twilight fans should head on over to www.cullenboysanonymous.com/  ....lots of nice people and they have a live chat that is always open as well as forums for discussions and fanfic, etc.  I'm trying to start a Pa thread on there, so come on over and check everything out!

In other news, I have been trying to find some good Christmas gift ideas that I can make in bulk to save on money.  Yay, economy.  I think that I am going to make cooking oils in decorative jars, but I'm looking for another idea for my loved ones that aren't as into cooking as I am.  Any suggestions?

So the hub and I both went as vampires to my friend's halloween party last night. We had a blast and I'm loving my new fangs that I bought.  They are surprisingly very comfy, and by the end of the night I was even drinking my beer with them in.  I'm so talented.  We have another party this coming weekend.  I'm just excited because this is the second year in a row where I have had any plans at all for Halloween events.  Before last year I was always working and I didn't  even have a reason to think of a costume.  Not anymore.

Rock

I'm at work right now... I work for customer service in a call center and it's seriously annoying.  I don't understand how people can put such trivial things such as one channel being out (i work for a cable company) and pitch a fit...screaming, yelling, swearing at a perfect stranger over the phone.  IT'S CABLE. That's it.  It is not, no matter how much you try to make me believe it, life or death.  You will not die if MTV is out for an hour, I promise you.  If there is an outage, find something else to do.  Read a book or watch a dvd.  We're working on it.  The techs can't go any faster than they are at the current time.  Sorry your cable is out right now when you are sitting there avoiding time with you family, but the people who were involved in the car accident that brought the cable line down are fine, thanks for asking.  My point is there are much more important things to care about in the world today.  Yes, you are paying for a service, but all services have problems.  Screaming like an idiot about it is not going to help.

Oh, and threatening that you are going to another provider means nothing to me, I'll still have my job tomorrow.

Here's another thing, demanding a supervisor and acting like an asshole on the phone (that you are being recorded on, by the way) does not get your tv on sooner, does not get the tech out that second, does not get you an obnoxious amount of credit that is not necessary.  Yes, there are times when credit is due, but screaming about it doesn't make it happen.  We're all human beings, how would you like to be spoken down to or yelled at for somethign that is NOT even your fault?

In happier news, it's sunny out today.  Perfect hoodie weather.  I want to go outside :)

I'm finally getting the hang (and full use of) my Blackberry Curve.  Or, the BBC, as I sometimes refer to it.  I"ve had it since about May and the only way cool thing I knew how to do with it was get online and play Brickbreaker.  Thank heavens for www.crackberry.com!!  My wonderful friend, Brittany, who has had her Blackberry Pearl much longer told me about it tonight because I didn't even know how to get a friggin' ringtone.  I had heard about myxer.com, but it never worked for me.  I now have a nifty ringtone and the original Transformer transforming noise for my message notification.  Wow, I'm so technologically stupid at times.

At least I'm learning now.

Today is my day off and I really need to get some cleaning done around the house.  I also need to do some laundry.  So, I am currently posting on here and also watching Wife Swap on tv.  I'm awesome, what can I say?

I really hope that the pay raise that is going to go into affect this coming paycheck is not all taken in taxes. I could really use some extra cash to put into savings for Christmas.  Josh and I are also trying to save up the cash for new tattoos.  I haven't had a tattoo since my trip to London and Wales and that was in 2003.  I need more ink!  I'm getting a Twilight inspired tattoo, which I originally wanted to get on my inner wrist but now am not sure.  We shall see.

Josh and I have been working our way through the first season of Heroes.  We had watched the first 4 or 5 episodes when the show first started, but because of work schedules we just sort of stopped.  I borrowed the dvds from my former roomie, Jen, and we've been watching about 3 episodes in a row each night. We're hooked (no big surprise there).

So, I really need to explore and poke around on livejournal. It's been so long since I have been on this site that a lot has changed.  I'll figure it out eventually, right?

Well, I am off to get some cleaning done.

This random entry has been brought to you by me :)

So here is the first post of my new livejournal.  I have not been on this site in more than a year, so I felt that it was time to just start over.

I'm off to customize a bit more and get set up.
